Unlike poker and blackjack, baccarat is a game of luck. It is played between the Banker and the Player. The Banker and the Player have equal points and the closest to nine points wins. The player may also bet on a tie. The tie bet pays 9 to 1 and has a chance of winning every hand.
Baccarat is played using 52-card decks, which are shuffled together. Each rank of card is given a numerical value and the tens and face cards are worth zero. The highest ranking card is the ace, which has a value of one. The lowest ranking card is the ten, which has a value of zero.
The game begins with each player receiving two cards. The Banker will draw on a 0 to 4 score and stays on a total of 5 or 6. The Player will stand on a 6 or 7.
The Player’s third card is worth a certain value, depending on the amount of the wager. If the total of the Player’s hand is a zero, the player must call ‘non’. If the total of the Banker’s hand is a zero, the Banker draws. The Banker can draw a second card if the Player has two cards or one card if the Player has two or more cards.
The player may also bet on the Banker’s hand. The House has a 5% commission on winning the Banker bet. This reduces the odds of the Player’s hand winning from 19 to 20. If the Player’s hand wins, the Player’s bet is doubled.
