NOTE
* The Mentoring USA/Italia Programme is a direct education intervention designed to remedy the worrying and widespread problem of school abandon and dispersion.
It helps students of compulsory school to increase their self esteem and to develop their potentialities, thereby improving their performance at school.
The most important part of the Programme is the relationship of trust, the willingness to listen which the adult volunteer (Mentor) manages to create with the student (Mentee) in a one-to-one situation in a climate of reciprocal enrichment.
Mentors can also be High School students or University Students, where these are nearby and conventions can be stipulated. Students receive study credits or the equivalent value in work experience.
**Il Progetto Famiglia comes from the collaboration between Social Services and Family Affares Department of the Province of Brescia and "Mentoring USA/Italia" – Onlus. It is active in four cities in Brescia: Darfo Boario, Montichiari, Palazzolo and in the Mountain Community of Val Trompia.
The innovation of the method is in the involvement of various professional figures, (often recently graduated,) who voluntarily offer their specialised skills. This requires the activation of a systems network which goes from the services offered by the Council which are already operative to the parish, to the University world and the work sphere. The volunteer councillors (Mentors) are adequately trained for the relationship and are aware of how to intervene effectively with the family and with each single member. Discussion groups and work groups are envisaged for specific themes: this means that having obtained a territorial map of the families in question and possible beneficiaries of the intervention – periodically, they will receive a calendar of the meetings which will be held (gratis) in small groups at the Council offices of the same service.
***the project Geni.Minor comes from a study made by "Formamentis" p.c.s.r.l., in collaboration with the City Council of Salerno, the company "Festina Lente" of Vittorio Campione and "Mentoring USA/Italia" - Onlus.
They intend to offer families and minors the chance to benefit from a series of services designed to improve the quality of life through the deeper knowledge of themes such as::
- the relationship between parents and children;
-the relationship between family and school;
- the problems of adolescence;
- sexuality;
-psychological problems ;
-separation, divorce , fostering ,adoption;
****Project "m-Learning". The principal aims of the project are the development, the experimentation and valuation of prototypes of products and services for the spreading of information, advice and guide lines.
This Project forms part of the activities designed to encourage "formazione permanente" (long life learning). The development of the plan envisages reaching the following objectives:
- a prototype of a multiagent system of tutoring, capable of assessing the knowledge of the student as well as his preferred style and strategy of learning, and to help plan personal development through the adaption of micro-courses to individual needs;
- multimedia didactic models to be used with mobile technology to transmit data regarding the basic skills of reading, writing and arithmetic ;
- personalised micro-systems and interfaces regarding the specific needs of user groups within the target typology of the project and at different level of technical sophistication of the portable devices used.
In addition to CRMPA, the project consortia includes:
1. Mentoring USA/Italia Onlus;
2. Learning and Skills Development Agency (UK);
