The project "All the colors of the World", supported by the Bank of Sicily Foundation, for the school year 2009/2010, in seven schools in the province of Palermo and Catania, has as its own goal the linguistic integration of immigrant students thus overcoming their written and oral language problemswhich are at the basis of every type of socialization.

Progetto Mentore

The Mentor Project

It has been supported by Vodafone Italy Foundation, Education Department, Training and Work of the Campania Region and the School Regional Office for a three year period 2006 – 2009; it has involved 10 schools in Campania, allowing to more than 100 students, with school issues, to benefit from the Matilda Raffa Cuomo's one-to-one method. The aim of the project has been carrying out an educational action to prevent and fight school dropouts with instruments, in particular volunteer Mentors, aimed at enhancing relational and emotional skills of young people.

The initiative has showed to be an efficient intervention to face problems such as: low school attendance, failures, early school leaving which can overall reach alarming proportion asking for a specific individual intervention. The mentoring activity has mainly focused on: dialogue, comparison, friendship and discussion regarding particular topics and biases thus letting emerge individual socio-relational (School, Family, and Peers) and work skills (job and career orientation).

The Mentor Project Activity has also realized an assessment of the intervention model in Schools carried out by Maria D'Alessio, Chair of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".

+cittadini attivi +società sicure

+ active citizens + secure communities

The project "+ Active Citizens + Secure Communities" was born from the collaboration between Agencies, Academic, Private, and Tertiary sector Organizations which are committed to promote the culture of legality. The project has had a threefold aim:

a) sensitize public opinion towards young people's needs

b) favor the active participation in schools of Institutions which are warrantors of the culture of legality

c) promoting the culture of responsibility through an educational intervention in which the student is the protagonist and indirectly the family

The innovative nature of the project is in the possibility of joining the method one-to-one of Mrs. Matilda Raffa Cuomo with attestations and educational actions about the topic of legality in order to emphasize the unexpressed skills of participants, to favor the acquisition of specific skills and promote a more valuable culture of legality.
