The Salerno-based Community Foundation is the first Community Foundation of Southern Italy, promoted by the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio Salernitana and established thanks to stimulus and support of the Foundation for Southern Italy.

The Foundation supportsa real involvement of the entire community, offering citizen, organizations, companies and economic, social, and territorial institutions, opportunities to participate to the activity of the agency and contribute to responsibly change the territory where they live into a solidarity and subsidiary community.

Mentoring USA/Italy – NPO has supported the Foundation donating 11.000,00 €.

The Family Project: how to fight new poverty

The project aims to offer disadvantaged families the possibility of using a number of services aimed at improving the quality of life, through communication and extensive knowledge of topics related to:

1. parents – children relationship;

2. family-school relation;

3. juvenile issues;

4. sexuality;

5. psychological issues in a wide sense;

6. separation, divorce, custody;

7. world of work;

8. Inland Revenue Service, Welfare Services;

9. Other.

They are volunteers who come together and patrol city streets providing sandwiches, hot drinks, blankets and clothing to homeless, elderly and young people who live in waiting rooms of train stations or under bridges outdoor.

During the service of patrolling it is possible to meet a lot of people who need food, clothing, and especially dialogue and friendship.

This initiative is aimed at schools of the Region Campania. It is organized by Mentoring USA/Italy – NPO and promoted by the newspapers "la Città" first and then by "Il Mattino".

The goal is to introduce the fascinating world of communication offering to compulsory school students the possibility of learning the specific language of newspapers seen as stimulating teaching instruments.
